Substance added to Schedule I of the U.S. Controlled Substances Act

The following substance has been added to Schedule I of the U.S. Controlled Substances Act:

  1. Fentanyl-related substances

The Controlled Substances Act is the statute establishing federal U.S. drug policy relating to the manufacture, importation, possession, use and distribution of controlled substances. The main purpose of the Act is to enable the United States to comply with the requirements of the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs (1961) and the Convention on Psychotropic Substances (1971).
